About Medaria Aid

What began as two mothers packing boxes in their living rooms has grown into a registered UK charity operating across three countries - because they refused to stop.

Born From Love. Built Into Something More.

Medaria Aid was not born in a boardroom or from a grant application. It was born at 3am, when the phone doesn't ring and you don't know if it will. It was born from two mothers - one in the United Kingdom, one in Australia - whose sons crossed the border into Ukraine as foreign volunteers, refusing to look away from what was happening to the people of Ukraine.

We found each other in the fear. In the shared sleeplessness of loving someone at the front. In the absolute refusal to sit still while our children were in danger and others needed help.

We started the only way we knew how - personally, directly, with our own hands. Packing boxes in living rooms. Driving supplies across borders. Calling suppliers at midnight. Completely grassroots. Completely determined.

Three years on, what began as a mother's instinct had become something trusted by brigades, medics and supporters across the world. We made the decision to formalise - to grow with the same integrity we had always operated with. We took over the stewardship of an established registered UK charity, Ukraine-Aid.info (Charity No. 1204225), and with that came the legal structure, the governance, and the credibility to do even more. That charity is now officially named Medaria Aid.

We have since welcomed a US-based trustee to our board, helping us grow our reach to American donors and advocates. Our medical operations remain run from the UK. Our administration runs from Australia. And our mission remains exactly what it always was: get help to the people who need it, as fast as possible, with full accountability.

We are not politicians. We are not observers. We are mothers who refused to wait - and a growing international community of people who refuse to look away.

Our Values

🎯

Direct Impact

We ensure every dollar reaches the front lines. We work directly with brigades and medics - cutting out the middlemen and the bureaucracy that slows aid down when seconds count.

πŸ”

Total Transparency

Every shipment is documented. Every item is photographed and received. We report back to our donors with evidence that their support arrived where it was needed.

πŸ’ͺ

Relentless Commitment

We don't wait for the right moment. We don't pause for red tape. When a brigade calls and says they need a medevac vehicle, we start fundraising that day.

❀️

Human Above All

Behind every item we ship, there is a human story. A medic. A soldier. A child in a shelter. We never forget that. Our mission is human, personal, and unrelenting.

What We Deliver

We are a UK-registered charity dedicated to the people of Ukraine. All medical supplies and equipment are sourced, quality-checked and dispatched from the United Kingdom directly to frontline units. Our UK operations team manages every procurement and shipment. Donors based in the UK may also claim Gift Aid, increasing the value of every pound at no cost to them.

"We will not stop. We will not look away. We will do everything in our power to get help to those who need it. For the living. For the fallen. For our sons. For Roman, our dear friend and tireless humanitarian, who taught us to never give up - and whose legacy lives in every mile we drive, every kit we deliver, and every life we reach."

For Roman - Never Give Up

Roman is a Ukrainian humanitarian who dedicated his life to helping others. He fundraised, delivered aid, clothed and fed children, and stood shoulder to shoulder with those on the frontlines. In December 2024, he was drafted into the military. He did not avoid his duty. In March 2025, he went missing in action. Now we all wait. His motto was always: "Never Give Up." And we won't.

The Story of Bear

Mascot. Veteran. Wanderer. Hope-Bringer.

Where He Began

Before he ever stepped foot in Ukraine, Bear had already lived a lifetime of service. Long ago, Bear stood tall (and quite cuddly) as the official mascot for the UK's Help for Heroes campaign. Dressed in his proud British military uniform and sporting a white cast on one leg - a badge of honour for all the wounded he represented - Bear marched at marathons, waved at crowds, hugged children, and raised spirits (and donations) for veterans across the country.

But time passed, and as campaigns moved on and stores changed hands, Bear was quietly packed into a cardboard box in a UK chain store. That store eventually closed its doors - and Bear was marked for disposal. Forgotten in the corner, he sat in the dark for years.

Then, something unexpected happened. One of the founders of Medaria Aid was gifted 300 teddy bears to bring to children and soldiers - a simple, heartfelt way to spread joy. She had an idea: what if someone wore a bear suit to give them out? A friend suddenly lit up: "I think I know a guy... who has a bear suit."

Bear was found. Rescued from the darkness. And his story began again.

His Missions in Ukraine

Bear was carefully packed and sent by courier to Ukraine - except, somewhere along the way, his head got separated from his body. For a brief but dramatic time, Bear existed in two parts, travelling different roads across borders. But thanks to the dedication of his new human friends, Bear was eventually reunited, head and all.

His first official mission? Netishyn at Christmas. Decked in his British military uniform, Bear delivered joy to every corner of the town, handing out 300 teddy bears to children. He didn't need to speak. He waved, danced, hugged, and gently reminded them: you are loved, you are not forgotten.

Come Easter, Bear was there again - this time carrying chocolate and cheer. And then came the call from Kharkiv. A city battered by war. Orphans who had seen too much. Bear set off across the country once more. Hugs turned into giggles. Sadness lifted, even if only for a moment.

Bear just keeps going. Just like Ukraine.

"When Bear arrived in Netishyn for Christmas, something shifted. In a time when joy was scarce and children had forgotten what it felt like to laugh freely, Bear brought magic back... For many of these children, it was the first time in months they felt seen - and safe." Birds of Netishyn
