Behind every frontline is a child who has lost something - a parent, a home, a sense of safety. We go to them too.
When the bombs fall on a town, the soldiers are not the only ones left behind. Ukraine's orphanages and children's shelters are often in the most affected regions - under-resourced, overcrowded, and forgotten by larger aid organisations who focus on the front line.
Medaria Aid goes to them directly. We work with trusted local contacts inside Ukraine to identify specific orphanages that need support, understand exactly what they need, and deliver it ourselves - no middlemen, no delays, no bureaucracy.
This work is personal. Our founding mothers have been inside these orphanages. They have held these children. And they refuse to look away.
"Every child remembered is a reason to keep going."
The Founders of Medaria Aid
Before he ever set foot in Ukraine, Bear had already lived a lifetime of service. Once the official mascot for the UK's Help for Heroes campaign, Bear was eventually packed into a cardboard box and forgotten in a closing store - until Medaria Aid gave him a new purpose.
Bear travelled to Netishyn at Christmas, accompanying a delivery of 300 teddy bears to children who had forgotten what it felt like to laugh. He made it to Kharkiv to visit orphans who had seen far too much. His head even got separated from his body in transit - a dramatic but brief chapter - but he kept going. Just like Ukraine.
Bear now sits proudly at Medaria Aid HQ, a reminder of why this mission matters beyond the medical supplies and the vehicles. Because sometimes, the most important thing you can deliver to a child is something soft to hold.
Read Bear's Full StoryWe have delivered directly to orphanages and children's shelters across Ukraine - from Netishyn in the west to Kharkiv in the east. Every delivery is coordinated with the facility to ensure it meets their specific needs.
We don't decide what to bring. We ask each facility what they need - and we source it. Because the people on the ground always know best.
Teddy bears, toys, books and games that bring back a fragment of childhood to children living in trauma. Something soft. Something theirs.
Coats, jumpers, shoes and socks - especially critical in winter. Many children in shelters have arrived with nothing but what they were wearing when they fled.
Non-perishable food, nutritious staples and treats. Proper nutrition for growing children is never guaranteed in a war zone.
Pens, pencils, notebooks, backpacks. Keeping children in education - or as close to it as possible - is one of the most powerful forms of stability we can offer.
Soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, sanitary products. Basic hygiene items that are often the first to run out in under-resourced facilities.
Colouring books, creative materials and calming toys that support the emotional and psychological wellbeing of children who have experienced unimaginable things.
You don't need to give a lot. A small donation buys a warm pair of socks. A larger one funds a full delivery run. Every contribution is tracked, delivered, and confirmed.
War does not discriminate. Neither do we. Whether it's a Cat C tourniquet for a soldier or a teddy bear for a child - every delivery is an act of solidarity.
